MPG 123

| Console | X11 | Deamons | Development | Libraries |
| Web | | G.M.O.M.E. | KDE | Enlightenment |

MP3. The big buzz word ( phraze ? ) in the music and internet seems to be cuasing more and more controvertiality then any other development in a long time. I'm sure most have used MP3's somewhere along the line and will agree it's well worth the trouble of getting your hands on some.

There are so many MP3 players to choose from why would one choose a console version? Well personally I have music running pretty much 24 hours a day, and thats why I use a console player. I open a shell, start the mp3 player in random mode and switch the process into background and close the shell window.

MPG123 has ben around for a while, but I was slow to catch on to it. I used to some others, but had the constant problem of the being X specific or worse console driven but so resource hungry that when I compile something it starts to skipp frames. Then I found mpg123 and I have never looked back since .. well appart from a X interface for mpg123 maybe ( look out for it next week )
